The Foothills community is conveniently located east of El Camino Real, along Cannon Road, in Carlsbad, California. The Foothills community is also situated on a southerly facing, gently sloping, hill side. This provides homes sites with view opportunities, good access to warm sunlight and cool ocean breezes. The recreation center at The Foothills will offer resort level amenities and a great gathering places for new friends and neighbors.

The Carlsbad Unified School District will provide educational facilities for the children of The Foothills and is planning a new high school, along Cannon Road, just east of College Avenue. The new high school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.

Pocket parks, a recreational vehicle storage facility and a future commercial office building will also be part of The Foothills master plan. A city neighborhood park has been designed and graded just west of The Foothills, along El Camino Real, and will be developed in the future by the City of Carlsbad.

Don’t you think the name Foothills is inappropriate?

The news is saying flooding in the foothills, evacuation in the foothills etc.

There are foothills everywhere, did this place have to be named that? Whose imagination was that?

  2. Steve says:

    S Daly,

Not all foothills are created equally. The Foothills community resides on the lower slopes of a very gentle hill. This allows views to be generated from a great many of the lots. The Foothills name allows many prospective buyers to understand the view orientation context of the community before they visit the site.

Brookfield has incorporated many grading design features to control natural runoff and landscaping features to stabilize all new slopes. The differences between a newly developed community and a fire ravaged natural landscape are significant. And, clearly understood when visiting the site.

I appreciate your concerns, but I also believe once you have visited the site, any comparisons to current news stories about storm related disasters are not realistic. The Foothills is an outstanding new community and it is being extremely well received by the public.

    Thank you for your concern,

    Steve

If this is true, then it’s really good that you actually said it. On the other hand, I’m sure other people should be hearing about it.

Thank you Tanya. Have you read the recent update on Rockrose? Eco-Savvy Homes in Carlsbad, Part 3? I’m trying to get the word out about a very exciting program we have going at The Foothills. I hope a lot of people will come by the community and see what we are doing about energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor air quality, sustainable development, habitat protection and resource conservation. It is a new way to build and a new way to be Eco-Savvy!
    Steve
