You are correct.  Too little regulation can lead to economic disasters (we are living through one).  The key issue here is regulation does not have to be overly burdensome on the cost side.  Regulation to deal with reporting and limitation of risk in the financial markets is necessary.  Regulation for the sake of regulation only adds cost burdens to small business.

My solution is a cost benefit analysis for every proposed regulation or piece of legislation so that regulators and legislators know what fiscal impacts they are creating and what &quot;benefit&quot; they are achieving.

It makes me wonder how bad it is nationwide. It&#039;s a very slippery slope as we saw over the last decade. Too little equals economic meltdown, too much could easily do the same. 

It rarely seems like small businesses are the culprits though - I hope future studies do look at how the damage can be minimized.</description>
